Martha Marie O’Connor, 95, of Tama, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, with Father Michael McAndrew as the officiant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 9:00-10:30 AM prior to the Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Martha was born on December 15, 1930, in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Kubalek) Hrstka.

She graduated from Tama High School.

On September 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert L. O’Connor in Vining, Iowa. Martha was a bookkeeper for Werner’s Grain & Feed for the majority of her working years.

Martha was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, where she was active in CCW for many years. She was an avid bowler for over fifty years, and enjoyed gardening and baking kolaches.

Survivors include her three children, David (Joni) O’Connor of Toledo, Carol O’Connor of Tama, and Mary (Gary) Reid of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jenelle (Andrew) Veit, Mindi Koehler, Rob (Brittany) Hill, and Ross (Beth) Hill; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren, Vanessa, and VinLee Veit, Emma and Boden Koehler, Roman Hill, Ryder Shefchik, and Hudson Hill; sister, Eva Kasal of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert on April 25, 1991; grandson, K.C. O’Connor; three sisters, Helen Herink, Mildred Benda, and Lucille Yilek; and two brothers, Arthur Hrstka, and Paul Hrstka.

A memorial fund will be established.
