Martha Lou Untiedt, 84, of Clutier, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her son's home in Shueyville under the care of her family and Hospice of Mercy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.

Martha was born on October 11, 1931, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Zmolek) Yuska.
Martha attended country school and later Clutier High School, graduating in 1948. She played at the state basketball tournament three times. Martha worked as a clerk in many stores in the Clutier area after graduation, but she loved most being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
On September 17, 1953, she married Duane Untiedt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vining, Iowa. They were married for almost fifty years and lived in Clutier their entire married life. Martha enjoyed baking, cooking, and caring for her beautiful flowers and her beloved birds. She also loved cheering on her favorite basketball team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, polka music, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Martha was a member of the Clutier Immaculate Conception Church, now the St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, and a part of the women's society. She was also a charter member of the Clutier American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, David (Sheryll) Untiedt of Shueyville; her daughter, Mary Lou (Larry) Bishop of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Matt (Carissa) Untiedt, Abby (Tom) Keesy, Nicole Bishop, and Kenny Bishop; two great-grandchildren, Brooks Untiedt and Olivia Keesy; four sisters, Dorothy Adam of Clutier, Albina Krizek of Waterloo, Maxine Yanda, and Betty Krezek both of Traer; two brothers, Clarence (Sharon) Yuska of Toledo and Ronald (Ruth) Yuska of Tama; sister-in-law, Dorothy Yuska; brother-in-law, Gary Untiedt; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Duane; three sisters, Eleanor Novotny, Helen Zmolek, and Leona Krezek; four brothers, Stanley, Harry and Melvin Yuska, and Joseph Yuska in infancy.
Memorials will be contributed to the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery Tree Fund.
