Obituary

Mary Lou Prusha, 87, of Toledo, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at Mercy One Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Mary Lou was born on August 26, 1935, in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Votrobeck) Herink.

She attended country school and graduated from Toledo High School.

On February 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Floyd L. Prusha in Tama, Iowa. Mary Lou helped on their farm, where she raised dairy calves, chickens and sold eggs. She loved cooking, especially for her family. Mary Lou enjoyed flower gardening, cats and dogs. She also enjoyed going to the Meskwaki Bingo & Casino to play Bingo with her son Duane, and was an avid shopper with her daughter Becky, recently to Kalona.

Survivors include her children, Duane (Barb) Prusha of Grinnell and Becky (Jerry) McClenathan of Toledo; two grandchildren, Justin (Tammy) Prusha of Eaton, CO and Megan (Justin) Love of Liscomb; five great-grandchildren, Blake, Faithlyn, Jason, Brody and Beckem; one sister, Margaret Handsaker of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Floyd on December 16, 2000; and numerous brothers and sisters.
