TAMA-Mayme Adeline Votrobeck, age 96, of rural Tama, entered into rest Tuesday morning, February 13, 2007 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 16, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Montour. Visitation will be Friday, February 16, 2007 from 9:30 AM until the time of service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Mayme Adeline Votrobeck was born on July 22, 1910, in rural Tama, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Salasek) Balichek. She grew up in the area of her birth and received her education in rural schools. In 1923, she moved with her parents to Montour, graduating with the Class of 1929. She was very proud of her achievements and participation in school.
On February 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to Frederick Votrobeck of rural Toledo. They were married in Waterloo, Iowa. The couple returned to her family farm and farmed many years.
Mayme was a member of the Farm Bureau and Columbia Homemakers Club. She was an excellent cook, especially pastries. Also, she was an inspiration and support for her family. She entered Sunny Hill Care Center in October of 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick in September 1975; one brother, Charles Balichek; two sisters, Martha Kovarik and Elizabeth Hurt; and one niece, Minnie Kubik.
Survivors include one daughter, Arlene (Leonard) Husak of Toledo; three grandchildren, Jerome (Joanne) Husak of rural Tama, Michele (Eric) Werner of rural Toledo, and Ryan Husak of Ames; two great-granddaughters, Hope Werner and Katie Husak; one niece, Vera Sevcik of Tama; and many cousins.
A memorial fund has been established.
