Micaela Everly Townsend, infant daughter of Derek and Amy Townsend of Chelsea, was born and became God's new angel on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Private Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Rector Cemetery in Rural Chelsea with Pastor Brian Chitwood officiating.


Survivors include her parents, Derek and Amy (Ledvina) Townsend of Chelsea; her sister, Haven at home; her grandparents, Michael and Connie Ledvina of Toledo, and Terry and Doreen Townsend of Bondurant; her great-grandparents, Marilyn Ledvina of Elberon, Beverly Squiers of Chelsea, Clarence and Shirley Townsend of Indianapolis, IN, and Aubree Everly of Bondurant; uncles and aunts, Adam Ledvina of Coralville, Leanne (Louis) Vander Streek of Ankeny, Kurt Townsend (Kelly Ryan) of Ames, and Caleb Townsend of Bondurant; and two cousins, Ava and Junia Vander Streek
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Melvin Ledvina, Keith Squiers and Dorothy Everly.



Micaela, "God's gift", sprinted into this world after 23 weeks and 3 days weighing one pound six ounces and measuring 12 inches long at 3:02 A.M and after a strong fight went to heaven at 2:45 P.M. We want to thank Mercy NICU staff for their compassionate care and allowing us to spend 11 hours and 33 minutes with her. Her arrival was unexpected and her stay was short, but her memory will be cherished forever in our hearts and minds. She was such a gift, blessing, and sweet heart. We will remember her beautiful face, long toes, active movement, and fighting spirit. We know you were scared, as were we, but we felt Jesus take you safely into heaven and rejoice in His blessed assurance. We wait anxiously for the day when we can see you again.
