TOLEDO-Mildred Evelyn Dostal, 91, of Toledo passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 12, 2012 from 9:30 – 10:30AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
Mildred was born on May 12, 1921 in Irving, Iowa the daughter of John and Emma (Hanousek) Kalina. She attended rural schools near Elberon. Mildred was united in marriage to Leo Dostal on February 26, 1946 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She had worked at Spooner Grocery Store before her marriage and also later on as her children grew up. Mildred was later the activity director at Bethesda Care Center in Toledo. She was also a Stanley Products dealer after moving to Toledo. Mildred was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and going to auctions and flea markets.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leo in 1984; two brothers, Emil and Milo Kalina; and two sisters, Agnes Kopriva and Sylvia Hala.
Survivors include two children, Carol L. (Dan Nichol) Dostal of Marshalltown and Roger L. (Sally) Dostal of Lincoln, IA; three grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Dostal, Michelle (Matt) Koch, and Sarah (Jurgen) Block; eight great-grandchildren, Whitney, Gavin, Mason, Cade, Quinn, Elle, Ryder, and Leo; and a sister, Ollie Kopecky of Toledo.
A memorial fund has been established.
