Obituary

TOLEDO-Mildred W. Zimmermann, age 87, formerly of Toledo, died on Monday, October 8, 2007 at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown due to a lengthy illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, October 12, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Mildred W. Zimmermann was born on October 7, 1920, in Haverhill, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Rose (Jansen) Sassen.
On November 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin Zimmermann at the Immaculate Conception Church in Haverhill. She helped her husband on the farm east of Toledo from the time of their marriage until 1996 when Marvin passed away. She then moved into Toledo.
Mildred was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama where she helped out in various capacities. She was also a volunteer at the Toledo Senior Center. Her hobbies included crocheting and playing cards.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marvin in 1996; one brother, Ray Sassen; and one sister, Rose Lang.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Mona) Zimmermann of Readlyn, and Randy (Connie) Zimmermann of Tama; four grandchildren, Angie Rademaker, Chris Zimmermann, Brandi (Erik Baker) Zimmermann, and Jared Zimmermann; two great-grandchildren, Cody Rademaker and Alexa Zimmermann; two sisters, Edna Daters and Irene Ridout, both of Marshalltown.
Memorials may be directed to the Toledo Ambulance Service or Iowa River Hospice.
