Obituary

TOLEDO- Mildred Josephine Zmolek, age 86, of Toledo, entered into eternal rest early Monday morning, October 20, 2008, surrounded by her family at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 24, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 3-7 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Mildred was born on March 16, 1922, in rural Clutier, the daughter of John T. and Mary (Parizek) Nachazel.
She received her education at rural Carroll Township #5 School.
On April 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Zmolek at St. Wenceslaus Church in rural Clutier. She was a homemaker and farm wife in rural Toledo, and moved to town a few years after her husband's death. Mildred was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, CCW, Catholic Workman, K.D. Lodge, and Farm Bureau Carroll Township Homemakers. She enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, baking, playing cards, traveling, crocheting afghans and making quilts for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles on June 3, 1975; three sisters, Agnes Hlas, Margaret Kucera, and Dorothy Hayek; one brother, James Nachazel; and a brother in infancy.
Survivors include her children, Allan Zmolek of Toledo, Doreen Hayek (Tom Reed) of Cedar Falls, Sherry (David) McFarland of Rochester, MN, Yvonne (Jonathan) Diller of Ames, Randy (Barbara) Zmolek of York, PA, LeRoy Zmolek of West Branch, Cynthia (Robert) Hill of Tama, Roxanne (Kurt) Pierce of Victor, and Jane (Baker) Hughes of Burleson, TX; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Milo (Lillian) Nachazel of Dysart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
