Obituary

Nancy L. Chyma, 69, of Tama, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at her home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Due to the recommended restrictions imposed by the CDC relating to the COVID-19 Virus, there will be Private Family Services held at this time, with interment at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. A Public Memorial Service will be held at a future date and announcements will be made at that time.

Nancy was born on April 6, 1950, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Orran "Dale" and Donna (Skrovig) Robinett.

She graduated from South Tama High School in 1968. She then graduated from Paris Academy of Beauty in Cedar Rapids and later Marshalltown Community College to be a Medical Assistant.

On June 29, 1968, Nancy was united in marriage to Daniel Chyma at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.  Nancy owned The Top Attention Hair Salon in Tama and was a well known Beautician in the area for many years. Prior to that, she worked for Farm Bureau selling insurance, and the Marshalltown Police Department. Nancy attended several area churches and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, and several Beautician organizations. She liked baking cakes and Cinnamon Rolls and loved delivering gifts to everyone for birthdays and any other occasion.  Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and grandkids. Nancy battled her illness with courage and dignity right up until the end. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her regular clients, and her friends in the community as well as her family.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Dan of Tama; two sons, Kelly (Naomi) Chyma of Tama, and Dustin (Lynsey) Chyma of Nashua; five grandchildren, Preston and Klohe Chyma, and Karson, Kamden, and Channing Chyma; one sister, Deanna (Loren) Willey of Tama; her mother-in-law, Mary Chyma of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.
