TAMA Norwood Roberts Sr., age 62, of the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama died on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center due to a sudden illness. Traditional Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A traditional wake will be held Wednesday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Homes, Tama-Toledo is in charge of the arrangements.
Norwood Roberts Sr. was born on March 25, 1944 in Toledo, the son of Elizabeth F. Roberts. He was a graduate of East High School in Denver, Colorado and was most recently employed by the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel.
He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth F. Roberts, son Jason Roberts, and nephews Leighton Roberts Jr. and Gabriel Roberts.
Survivors include his children, Norwood Roberts Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Novalyn Roberts of Needles, California, Michele Roberts of Marshalltown, Lindsay Roberts of Marshalltown, Jeremy Roberts of Tama, and Lisabeth Roberts of Tama; a sister, Ernestine Keahna of Tama; brothers, Leighton Roberts Sr. of Denver, Colorado and Luther Roberts of Denver Colorado; a special companion, Jennifer Nicoli of rural Tama; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
