Obituary

TOLEDO-Opal LuVerne Kajer, 99, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Carrington Place in Toledo. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo with Rev. LaVern Seth officiating.
Opal was born on January 28, 1912, near Potter, Iowa southwest of Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Alva and Edith (Smith) Flowers.
She attended country school.
On December 4, 1929, she was united in marriage to Emil C. Kajer in Tama. They farmed east of Tama until 1968 when they built their new home west of Toledo. She moved to Toledo in 1975.Opal was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo, Woodlawn Cemetery Association, Toledo Garden Club, Oakridge Homemakers, and the Tama-Toledo kitchen band. She volunteered at the Toledo Congregate Meal Site.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Emil in 1975; her step-mother, Mina Flowers; one brother, John Flowers; a step-sister; and two nieces, Violet Benda and Darlene Brezina.
Survivors include one nephew, Al (Carolyn) Flowers of Toledo; and two nieces, Vaneta Hall of Council Bluffs and Pauline Dvorak of Sioux City; and a special great nephew, Marvin (Tammy) Hall of Council Bluffs.
A memorial fund has been established.
