TAMA-Orran "Dale" Robinett, 81, of Tama, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at his home in rural Tama. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held Monday, June 21, 2010 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dale was born on August 26, 1928, in Melbourne, Iowa, the son of Eddie and Alice (Brown) Robinett.
He graduated from Vancleave High School.
Dale served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
On October 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Donna Skrovig at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Dale was a farmer and supplemented his income as a truck driver. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Teamsters and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed genealogy and was on the Board of Directors of the Robinett Family Association. He also restored old tractors.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Amber Paulette Chyma; a grandson, Darren Dale Chyma; and one sister, Lillian McWhirter.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Tama; two daughters, Nancy (Daniel) Chyma of Tama and Deanna (Loren) Willey of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Kelly (Naomi) Chyma of Tama, Dustin (Lynsey) Chyma of Nashua, Leann (Murray) Yeltman of Traer, Christy (Colby) Fontinel of Marshalltown and Eddie (Ashley) Hofer of Cedar Rapids; three step-grandchildren, Lori (Kevin) Dvorak of Chelsea, Lisa (John) Beaty of Marshalltown and Sara (Jason) Cronk of Toledo; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Wesley (Brenda) Biddle of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
