TAMA- Patricia Green, age 73, of Tama and formerly of Montour, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher and Father Joseph V. O'Brien as celebrants. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 from 4-7 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Patricia was born on May 25, 1936, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Louis J. and Rose M. (Burke) O'Brien.
She graduated from St. Patrick's School in Ryan and received her Associates Degree from Ottumwa Heights Community College, her Bachelors Degree from Buena Vista and her Masters Degree in religious education from Loyola University in New Orleans.
On August 13, 1960, she was united in marriage to Richard "Butch" Green at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti, Iowa. Patricia taught at the Montour School and St. Mary's in Marshalltown. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama where she was formerly Director of religious education, and also a Parish Council member. Pat was also a member of the Toledo-Tama Kiwanis Club. She volunteered for the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, crossword puzzles and traveling.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Butch in 1994; a grandson, Matthew James Green; one brother, Bob O'Brien; and one sister-in-law, Rosemarie O'Brien.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura (Joel) Kopsa of Tama; three sons, Michael Green of Keystone; Steve (Pam) Green of Washington, and Mark (Tammy) Green of Sibley; six grandchildren, Jillisa and Kaylea Kopsa, Jacob, Fletcher, Kyle and Ryan Green; one great-granddaughter, Isabella; three brothers, Jim O'Brien of Ryan, Fr. Joe O'Brien of Dubuque, and Don (Berneta) O'Brien of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
