Patrick "Pat" Johnson, 71, of Holiday Lake and formerly of Montour, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 from 3-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow at 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date.
Patrick was born on September 5, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Delmar and Darlene (Collins) Johnson.
He graduated from West High School in Waterloo. He then attended UNI and Barber School.
Pat served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969-1973.
He married Eilene Metz and together they had two sons. They later divorced. On November 25, 2011, he married Brenda Tester in Tama, Iowa.
Pat worked for the Iowa DOT and then owned and operated Pat's Barber Shop in Tama, later moving it to Toledo.
He was a member of the Toledo American Legion. Pat enjoyed fishing, hunting, cruising around the lake in the golf cart and smoking his cigarettes.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Brooklyn; his son, Jamie (Anna) Johnson of Tama; step-children, Erin (Robert) Tankoos of North Carolina and Adrienne Bethel of Oklahoma; grandchildren; Danielle Johnson (Josh Casey) of Tama, Destinie Johnson (Christian Potter) of Toledo and Dasia Johnson of Tama; step-grandchildren, Reagan and Robert Tankoos, and Braelyn Bethel; great-grandchildren, Alana and Jase Casey; two brothers, Delmar Johnson Jr. of Waterloo and Gary Johnson of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Pamela Allen, Rebecca (Gary) Sharlow, Cathy Campbell Currier and Kimberly Currier; brother-in-law, Brian (Jill) Currier; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Jeremy Johnson on November 11, 1990; and brother-in-law, Douglas Currier.
A memorial fund will be established.
