Paul Wenceslaus Kaufman, 81, of Tama, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Paul was born on September 21, 1936, on the family farm in Tama County, Iowa, the son of Charles and Margaret (Svoboda) Kaufman.
He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1954.
Paul served his country in the U.S. Army in the 134th Red Bull Division.
Paul farmed all of his life and for fifteen years was head of the security at the Paper Mill in Tama. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Paul enjoyed gardening and the time spent with his dogs and livestock. He will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his children, Crystal (Jarade Purk) Kaufman of Tama, Tracy (Retta) Kelley of Tama, Tina (Rod) Boldt of Toledo, Jeff (Fran) Cox of Tama, and Greg (Brandie) Cox of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Margaret (Charles) Goodrich of Malcom, and Patty (Don) Nicholas of Guernsey; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend, Peggy Cox of Tama.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, George and Charlie Kaufman.
A memorial fund has been established.
