Paul Joseph Kratoska, 85, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at The Willows of Marshalltown under the care of St. Croix Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael McAndrew and Deacon Stan Upah officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the church.
Paul was born on November 16, 1936, in Chelsea, Iowa, the son of Charles and Louise (Hayek) Kratoska.
He graduated from Chelsea High School.
On October 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Darlagene Rich at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea, Iowa. Paul was an IT professional at Fisher Controls and Lennox in Marshalltown. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and the Tama-Toledo Country Club where he enjoyed golf. He liked the outdoors and deer hunted up until the age of seventy. Paul played 500 in a couple's group with his wife and they traveled often. They were Iowa Hawkeye Football fans and had season tickets for over thirty years. They were also active in country dancing. Paul enjoyed working in his garden and collecting model Farmall Tractors. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Lisa (David) Henrich of Soddy Daisy, TN, Todd (Maureen) Kratoska of Toledo, Lori (Marty) Polka of Norwalk, and Becky (Mark) Hanna of Rochester, IL; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, William, Ryan, Allison, Dylan, Courtney, Jack and Walker; three great-grandsons, Dominic, Colton and Wesley; one brother, Richard Kratoska of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Darlagene in 2018; and sister-in-law, Mary Kratoska.
