Obituary

Pauline G. Reinig, 86, a lifelong resident of Toledo, died peacefully January 8, 2011, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, where she'd been taken after becoming ill while visiting family members. At her request, her body was immediately cremated; a private graveside service for family members will be held at a later date.

Pauline was born October 21, 1924, in rural Toledo. She was the oldest of four children born to Lawrence and Edna Reinig, Her siblings included Helen Reinig, deceased; Mary Hartman, Anchorage, Alaska; and Larry Reinig, Colo, Iowa, and Casa Grande, AZ.

Pauline was a 70-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Toledo, where she served as organist and also volunteered her talents in many other capacities. She touched the lives of many people with her deep, unwavering faith.

Pauline was Tama County treasurer for 20 years. In her retirement, she stayed busy with volunteer work at church and also at the Wieting Theater and the Tama County Historical Society.

Preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Helen, Pauline is survived by her brother, Larry, and sister, Mary. Her survivors also include four nieces, two nephews and many great-nieces and nephews whose lives were deeply enriched by their time, travels and conversations with her. She also leaves behind many, many friends.
