TAMA-Peggy Kurth, age 65, of Tama, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor John Janke officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Peggy was born on June 15, 1944, in Rotan, TX, the daughter of Oscar S. and Abbie (Reep) Tankersley.
She graduated from Rotan High School.
On June 17, 1961, she was united in marriage to James Kurth in Rotan, TX. She was a homemaker and also drove school bus for the South Tama County School District. Peggy enjoyed riding horses and attending her kids' activities.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Timothy Kurth; one grandson, Levi Kriegel; and one brother, Jimmy Don Tankersley.
Survivors include her husband, James of Tama; her children, James Dean (Letha) Kurth of Tama, Elizabeth (Steve) Ledvina of Toledo, and Bambi (Rod) Kriegel of Laurel; seven grandchildren, Dillon (Megan) Kurth and James Lundy Kurth, Brooke Kofstad, Jacob, Holly and Josh Ledvina and Justin Kriegel; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Oscar Ray (Betty) Tankersley of Blackwell, TX, J.R. Tankersley of Rotan, TX, and Larry Wayne Tankersley of Blackwell, TX; six sisters, Anita (Jolly) Watson of Shreveport, LA, Rita Sue (Donald) Boyd of Pollock, LA, Cheryl (Luther) Watley of New Orleans, LA, Patty (Steve) Smith of Wiley, TX, Tina (Wayne) Smith of Hempstead, TX, and Debra Lynn (Roger) Greer of Hempstead, TX
