TOLEDO-Peggy Lacina, age 62, of Toledo, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Peggy was born on November 4, 1946, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of George and Teresa (Kvapil) Rund.
She graduated from South Tama County High School in 1964.
On August 12, 1972, Peg was united in marriage to Dennis M. Lacina at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. She was employed as a shipping coordinator with Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Toledo. Peggy enjoyed watching birds, taking care of her flowers, and her cat, Buddy. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Dennis on October 3, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Trina (James) Howard of Polk City and Starla (Cory) Behounek of Green Cove Springs, FL; four grandchildren, Shayla and Arionna Behounek and Calvin and Sam Howard; four sisters, Pat (John) Tepoel of Tama, Maxine (Butch) Kroeger of Toledo, Evelyn "Mike" Shadden of Toledo, and Betty (Steve) Plowman of Tama; along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
