Penny Lynn Roberts, 66, of Toledo and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Graveside Service following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

Penny was born on May 1, 1956, on a Military Base in Frankfort, Kentucky, the daughter of Lester and Norma Jean (Anderson) Meewes.

She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids in 1974.

In October of 1984, she married Glenn Roberts and together they had two children, Dustin and Melanie. They later divorced.

Penny attended the Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. She was formerly employed at Big T Maid Rite and Super 8 Hotel in Toledo and also Access Direct in Marshalltown. Penny enjoyed baking sweets, watching movies, and most of all spending time with her family and loved ones.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Jeremiah (Abbie) Meewes of Davenport and Dustin Roberts of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Melanie (Nathan Buffalo) Roberts of Toledo; four stepchildren, Sonja, Paula, Parnell and Glenda Roberts; sister, Cindy Peterson of Urbandale; brother, Brad Meewes of St. Paul, MN; granddaughters, Maraya (Armani Smith) Meewes of Iowa City and Sophie Mae Buffalo of Toledo; grandson, Gabriel Meewes; and one great-grandchild, A.J. Smith with another on the way.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Norma Jean Meewes; and her paternal grandparents, Russell and Lucille Meewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
