Perry Dean Mohler, 74, of Marion, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 12:00 PM until the time of service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Perry was born on November 25, 1942, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Beulah (Stamp) Mohler.
He graduated from Toledo High School in 1961 and then graduated from Barber College in Newton, Iowa.
He married Susan Dowd in 1968 and they had two children together. They later divorced. On November 7, 2009, he married Rita at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Perry retired as a Barber and then worked for Kirkwood Community College in maintenance. He was formerly in the Optimist Club. Perry was very social and loved to talk to people, telling and listening to stories.
Survivors include his wife, Rita of Marion; his children, Sherilyn Kay Senft of Coralville, and Jonathan Mohler of Iowa City; one granddaughter, Haley Graham of Tiffin; one grandson, William Senft of Coralville; his stepchildren, Tom (Rachelle) Leaf of Solomon, KS, Tim Leaf of Dawsonville, GA, Rachael (Tim) Adkisson of Cedar Rapids, and Stephen (Heather) Leaf of Cedar Rapids; nine step-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Witte of Conrad, and Sharyn (Terry) Chandlee of Kalona; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters, Khris Mohler, and Cheryl Woodworth.
