Phillip Warren Filloon, 75, of Tama, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at his home in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Phillip was born on August 5, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Warren and Ethel (Addy) Filloon.
Phillip attended Tama High School and Gerald's School of Beauty.
Phillip served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from August 28, 1966 to August 23, 1968 in the Second Battalion 13 th Artillery Company C, where he received the Purple Heart and Commendation Medals. It was a special privilege and remembrance for him when he was able to participate in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight in 2017 to see the Vietnam Wall.
On June 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Connie Wiese at the First United Methodist Church in Toledo.
He retired in 2012, after forty-six years of service at the Marshalltown Trowel Company in Marshalltown. He was employed as a Journeyman Electrician in maintenance and repair of all kinds of machines and electrical work.
Phillip was a member of Toledo American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was formerly on the Tama City Planning and Zoning Board. Phillip was a "jack of all trades" especially working on his garage and house. He enjoyed genealogy, live music and going to the Casino.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Connie of Tama; children, Melinda (Tim) Martens of Toledo, Jeffrey Filloon of Tama, Nicole Filloon of Coralville and Dustin Filloon (Kristen Jaennette) of Tama; daughter-in-law, Piene Filloon of Toledo; ten grandchildren, Chelsea (Ethan) Llewellyn, Tyler Martens, Erin (Kaden) Moore, Hunter Filloon, Dayton Filloon, Gunner Filloon, Holden Rebich, Brooklyn Henderson, Kinzer Jaennette and London Jaennette; great-children, Byron Moore and soon to be born, Olivia Llewellyn; two sisters, Margaret (Phillip) Williams of Toledo and Becky (Gary) Werhman of Marshalltown; his mother-in-law, Burnadene Kunch of Toledo; and several nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Larry (Donna) Filloon; and his father-in-law, Cyril Kunch.
A memorial fund will be established.
