TAMA-Phyllis LaDuex, age 83, of Clay Center, KS, formerly of Tama, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan, KS. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
Phyllis was born on March 22, 1926, in Tama County, the daughter of Ross C. and Olive M. (Wise) Earnest.
She was raised in Tama County and graduated from Tama High School. She married John LaDuex in 1946 in Wichita, KS. They made their home in Sterling, Russell, and Pratt before moving to Clay Center in 1972. John preceded her in death on May 31, 1976. Phyllis worked in the Human Resources department at Hutchinson-Mayrath in Clay Center. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was a Girl Scout leader.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Survivors include a son John LaDuex, Jr. of Clay Center, KS; a daughter Karen LaDuex of Osawatomie, KS; and a sister Marjorie Gillespie of San Antonio, TX.
A memorial fund has been established.
