Priscilla Velma Willson, 85, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Hospice Compassus. A Celebration of Life and Sharing Memories were held by her daughter, Robin on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 1-4 PM at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel Street, Tama, Iowa. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Priscilla was born on March 26, 1930, in rural Black Hawk County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Raymond and Ruth Lois (Benedict) Rogers.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1948.
On February 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Willson in Toledo at her parent's home. Priscilla worked at the Paper Mill in Tama, Kiowa in Marshalltown, The County Home in Marshalltown and Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, retiring in 1994 after twenty years of service. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, the Fairview Methodist Church in Toledo until it closed and then Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo. She was a former member of Ridge Riders Saddle Club, Central Iowa Driving Association and Red Hat Club. Priscilla loved horses and going to horse shows and they also reupholstered buggies. Priscilla loved to travel. Her and close friend, Delores York traveled overseas many times. She was usually up for any road trip that she was invited on. In her younger days, the family did a lot of camping with the horses at places like Yellow River and Bushy Creek. She liked going to antique stores and garage sales. Her and Kenneth went to many Bluegrass festivals and Rhonda Vincent and her parents always put on a festival over the 4th at Sally Mountain in Missouri that she loved to go to. Peg loved to work in the timber and hunt squirrels. She was a bit of a fire bug and had to be reminded not to start fires on windy days! She also loved to garden and can food. She could be found curled up with a good book often.
Survivors include three children, Kenny Willson of Marshalltown, Janet (Tom) McWilliams of Marshalltown and Robin (Rick) Downs of Garwin; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one brother, Fred Rogers Jr.; and one sister, Joyce Shadden.
