Obituary

Reuben Oren Richards, 79, of Toledo, passed away, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.


Reuben was born on May 20, 1934, in Washington County, Kansas, the son of Eldridge and Violet (Clark) Richards.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On July 17, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jean Hladky in Toledo, Iowa. Reuben was employed at the John Deere Foundry in Waterloo from 1960 to 1992. He enjoyed fishing, playing 500, and collecting model cars. His greatest joy was watching his great-grandchildren. In his younger days, Reuben was a buck skinner.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Toledo; his stepsons Stacy (Deb) Hoskey of Toledo, Jeremy (Deb) Hoskey of St. Charles, IL, and Jay (Vickie) Hoskey of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Leah (Deacon) Fonua, Joseph Hoskey, Alyssa Hoskey, Christian Hoskey, Kira Hoskey, Troy Hoskey, Christa Hoskey, and Carrie Hoskey; five great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Kiela, and Kayda Wolf, Willow and Rigdon Fonua; and one sister.
