Rex Melvin Finley, 81, of Montour, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. A Memorial Gathering and Luncheon will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 11 AM until 3 PM at the Montour Community Center in Montour. Private Interment will be held at a future date.
Rex was born on June 26, 1933, in Quimby, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Edna (Parker) Finley.
On May 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Flora Lou Harrah at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Rex worked at Fisher Governor for ten years and then he worked at Finley Feed Store in Montour and drove truck as owner and operator. He was also the caretaker at Maple Hill Cemetery for many years and drove bus for the South Tama School District and had a country route for the Des Moines Register.
Rex was a member of the Montour Living Faith United Methodist Church. In his spare time, they enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of sixty three years, Flora Lou of Montour; his children, Sandy (Bill) McVicker of Hiawatha and Mickie (Bill Worsfold) Mauderer of Traer; three grandchildren, Billy McVicker, Sara (Shawn) Matheny and Sherri Mauderer; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Faye Berger of Traer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters; a grandson, Brad Mauderer; and one great-grandson, Trenton Larison.
A memorial fund has been established.
