CHELSEA- Richard LaVerne Davis of Chelsea formerly of the Haven area, entered eternity at the age of 87 on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Haven Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24 from 4 to 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Richard was born on January 26, 1920 in Tama County to Goldburn Lee and Dessie Mae (Rich) Davis. In his late teens, he listened to the Gospel and made his choice to walk with God. Richard entered the ministry in 1941, labored in Europe from 1950 to 1997, and continued his ministry when he returned to the states.
His parents, brothers, Leonard and Donald Davis, and sisters, Florence and Wilma Davis preceded Richard in death.
Survivors include his sister, Lorena Wauters of Elberon; four nieces, Judy Schrader, Carol Brannon, Linda Wauters Roberts, and Kathleen Wauters; and one nephew, Dennis Wauters.
A memorial fund has been established.
