Richard Tyler Dickens was born July 28, 1943 to Ellis T. Dickens and Margaret Ann Dickens (nee Hyatt) in Carroll, Iowa. His father slipped away from Camp McCoy to meet his first son. Dick passed away June 26, 2022 at Des Moines Methodist after a short illness.

Dick was united with Sharon Ann Kenyon, daughter of Ronald and Margaret Kenyon, on September 28, 1998. Sadly Sharon preceded Dick in death.

Dick graduated with a Masters in Engineering from the University of Iowa. Dick started life as a mechanical engineer who learned electrical engineering and spent his last 20 years as a software engineer. Dick was a dedicated fan of dirt track sprint races.

He is survived by his brothers Jake Dickens (Belinda) and Toby Dickens (Mary), two step-daughters, Alison and Wendy, his life long friend Nancy Garrison and several nieces and nephews.
