MARSHALLTOWN-Richard Dean Graff, 60, of Marshalltown and formerly of Tama, died suddenly July 28, 2011 at his home. Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama at a future date. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is handling the arrangements.
Richard was born April 5, 1951, in Marshalltown, the son of Lyle J. and Dorothy (Anderson) Graff. He had worked on the railroad for the last thirty-seven years and was planning to retire at the end of this year. Richard had lived in Marshalltown since starting to work on the railroad. Richard was married for ten years, and then divorced. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He also liked watching football. Richard especially enjoyed getting together with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Graff of Tama; one brother, Douglas Graff of Chelsea; one nephew Dana Graff and his wife Christina and their three children; and one niece Heather Graff and her daughter, Kera.
