Richard Joseph Linhart, 89, of Clutier, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father Michael Hutchison as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the St. Paul Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 4 PM.

Richard was born on May 24, 1930, on the family farm in Clutier, Iowa, the son of Fred and Julia (Sokol) Linhart.

He graduated from Clutier High School.

Richard served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

On August 30, 1955, he married Helen Svoboda and together they had four children. They later divorced. Richard farmed northwest of Clutier his entire life retiring in 1993. Richard was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and then Immaculate Conception Catholic Church both in Clutier and currently St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. He was a member of KD Lodge and Clutier American Legion Post #453. Farming was his life and he was a big Allis Chalmers tractor fan. He loved playing Pepper and dancing, especially Polkas and Waltzes. Richard was a big fan of Mollie B and Barefoot Becky. He was a Grand Marshall of the Clutier parade. His greatest joy was time spent with his family and was a well loved man with a kind heart.

Survivors include four children, Gloria (Karl) Ketter of Waterloo, Nancy (Roger) Downing of La Porte City, Diane (Alan) Lohmann of Janesville, and Bob (Lisa) Linhart of Littleton, CO; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Jean (Duane) Yung of Clutier; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two grandchildren, Brandy Starr Downing, and Brittany Ann Lohmann; and one brother, Wesley Linhart of Marshalltown.

A memorial fund will be established.
