Obituary

TAMA-Richard Dale Wolf, age 62, of Tama died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Richard was born on September 3, 1945 in Marshalltown, the son of Russell and Phyllis (Randall) Wolf. He received his education at Columbia No. 5 School and then Tama High School. Richard was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1965, finishing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He completed the communication center specialist course at the U.S. Army Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. While on leave, Richard was married to Kenne G. McFate on May 10, 1966 in Tama. On May 13, 1966 he boarded a ship for a tour of duty in Vietnam. Richard was honorably discharged in September of 1971 and made his home in the Tama-Toledo area, where he raised three children with Kenne. He worked for Fisher Control in Marshalltown for 37 years, retiring in 2003. He loved camping, fishing, boating, hunting, and riding horses. He also enjoyed picking on his friends at Fisher's. Dick was a good husband, friend, father, grandpa, and papa. He will be sadly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Joe Wolf.
Survivors include his wife Kenne of Tama; one son, Michael K. (Deb) Wolf of LeGrand; two daughters, Jennifer (Clark) Nekola of Tipton, and Mary Wolf of Tama; one sister Barbara Wolf of Grinnell; one brother Dean (Marsha) Wolf of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren Kenon Wolf, Cassidy Wolf, Logan Wolf, and Steven Sindt; two great-grandchildren, Cade and Dayne Wolf; and three honorary grandchildren Chelsea, Skyler, and Cash McGuire.
