TOLEDO- Rob Kenkel, age 21, of Toledo, died Friday, April 24, 2009 in an automobile accident in Tama County. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Pastor Mary Schnepf of Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 4-8 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
Rob was born on November 14, 1987, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Stephen and Charlene (Wells) Kenkel.
Rob graduated from South Tama County High School in 2006. He participated in several sports while in high school as well as band and drama. He was currently employed at Family Auto in Toledo as a sales consultant. Rob loved being with his friends, 4-wheeling and playing guitar. He enjoyed being a DJ and was a past member of the band Stanwood Charlie. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo where he was a youth leader.
His grandmother, Dorothy Kenkel, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Charlene Kenkel of Toledo; one sister, Sarah Kenkel of Seoul, South Korea; his grandparents, Marvin Kenkel of Portsmouth and Gordon and Coletta Wells of Dubuque; his aunts and uncles, Judy (Sam) Hoff of Cedar Rapids, Diane Locklear of Santa Monica, CA; and Gordon (Debbie) Wells of Rockford, IL; his cousins, Derek and Rachel Johnk, Misty (Tim) Wideman, Destiny Hickock, and Jessica (Mike) Devlieger.
A memorial fund has been established.
