Obituary

Robert Donald Balvin, 78, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Stayskal Cemetery in rural Vining with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Robert was born on February 6, 1934, in rural Clutier, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Emma (Dolash) Balvin.
He graduated from Toledo High School in 1952.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after twenty years of service. He worked at the Tama-Toledo Country Club for many years. Robert was a member of the Tama-Toledo Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Richard Balvin; and one sister, Ruth Balvin in infancy.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Darlene Balvin of Chelsea; several nieces and nephews and their families.
