Obituary

Robert Joseph Caloud, 67, of Clutier, gave his life for his country when he passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at his home in rural Clutier from cancer as the result of exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. He was under the care of Essence of Life Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Clutier Community Church in Clutier with Pastor Paul Frederick officiating. Interment will follow at Clutier Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a 40&8 Service at 7 PM.

Robert was born on January 28, 1949, in Clutier, Iowa in the home of his parents Norbert and Evelyn (Kupka) Caloud. He attended Elementary and Junior High at Clutier High School and graduated from North Tama High School in 1967. The day after graduation, he started work at Goss in Cedar Rapids, and in April of 1969 was drafted and served a tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in April of 1971. He married Diane Bohnstengel on September 4, 1971. After thirty-three years at Goss, he was laid off and then worked for fourteen years at Kinze Mfg on Jon Kinzenbaw's personal collection. He retired in November of 2014. Robert also farmed with his father on the family farm.
He was a member of the Clutier Community Church, Hora Machacek Post 453, Iowa Chapter International Harvester Collectors, Voiture 568 of 40&8, Vietnam Veterans of America, MidIowa Antique Power Association and was a Clutier First Responder for many years. He held various offices in the Legion and 40&8, President of IA Chapter IHCC, National President of IHCC, President of M.I.A.P.A. and was elder of the church for many years. Robert loved his Mopars and red tractors and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of Clutier; one son, Leo (Jo) Caloud of Hudson; one daughter, Tina Caloud of Fishers, IN; three grandchildren, Holden Caloud, Caitlin and Mackenzie Lynch; his mother, Evelyn Caloud of Traer; three sisters, Barbara (Ace) Perry of Marshalltown, Becky (Richard) Forster of Fancy Gap, VA, and Mary Drake of Gladbrook; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Norbert; a niece; and several cousins.
