MONTOUR-Robert C. Shaw, age 70, of Marshalltown, formerly of Montour, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Father Don Czapla officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
Robert was born on April 30, 1939 in Marshalltown, the son of Ted and Garnet (White) Shaw. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Kupka in April of 1978 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Haleakala as a cook. He later worked at Lennox in Marshalltown in assembly and also a forklift operator. Robert retired from Lennox in 2001 after more than thirty years of service. He enjoyed collecting Lennox memorabilia. Robert had a lifelong love of animals and cooking. He also liked to work on cars. Robert was a very social person, and was very fun loving. He enjoyed his mother's cooking especially her peas and dumplings.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted; and his wife Genevieve on October 31, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorinda (S. Jeremiah) Lamb, and Lisa Lacko all of Marshalltown; his mother, Garnet Shaw of Marshalltown; two grandsons, Shawn Branan of Jefferson, Oregon, and Chase Reeves of Marshalltown; and two sisters, Caroline Shaw of Marshalltown, and Linda (Jack) Atkin of Lompac, California.
A memorial fund has been established.
