Obituary

Rodney Frederick Papakee, 70, of Tama, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home due to a sudden illness. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Vernon Jefferson residence, 1575 305th St., on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Rodney was born on December 13, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of James and Isabelle (Morgan) Papakee.

Rodney served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was formerly a Maintenance Engineer at the Meskwaki Bingo & Casino. Rodney enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, Pow-wows, and yard work.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Papakee of Tama; grandchildren, Larisha Wabunasee, Gailey Morgan, Chaille Morgan, and Alexander Morgan; great-grandson, Christian Ware; brother, Vernon Jefferson of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Clyde Papakee, Richard Papakee, Bernard Papakee, and Reginald Papakee; sisters, Patricia Brown, and Wilma Jane Papakee; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Morgan.
