TOLEDO- Roger Keith Bacon, age 74, of Toledo, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Sunny Hill Care Center under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. A Private Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo will take place at a later date.
Roger was born on September 2, 1935, in rural Garwin, the son of Kenneth R. and Emma (Skala) Bacon.
He graduated from Toledo High School in 1953.
He married Earlene Smith and they later divorced. On March 23, 2002, he married Susan Kunch Criswell in Bentonville, Arkansas. Roger was a general contractor in the Tama-Toledo area throughout his entire working career. He was a member of the Hawkeye Packard's and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served his country in the Navy Reserves. Roger loved fishing and his Packard cars.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Barbara Cline; a granddaughter, Nicole Gibson; and a step-daughter, Laura Leber.
Survivors include his wife Susan of Toledo; his children, Lisa Bacon of Petaluma, CA, Laurie (Bill Dill) Gibson of Solon, Kenneth (Jill) Bacon of Tama, Brian (Anne) Bacon of Marshalltown and Bradley (Dana) Bacon of Sonoma, CA; one stepson, Keith (Tracy) Criswell of Bradenton, FL; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Sunny Hill Care Center or Iowa River Hospice.
