TOLEDO-Roger L. "Frog" Kasal, age 73, of Toledo, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor John Janke officiating. Private interment will be held at a future date. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, July 19 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Roger was born on December 24, 1936 in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Charles and LaVonne (DuPre) Kasal. He graduated from Toledo High School. Roger was united in marriage to Sonja Lou Hall on June 5, 1957 at the Methodist parsonage in Toledo. He spent most of his life doing masonry work. Roger later worked for the wood shop at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel until his retirement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. In his free time Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his family. He also enjoyed his Busch Light. Roger was well liked and had many good friends. He was a skilled woodworker, and enjoyed sharing his projects with the people around him.
Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Donald Kasal, Maxine Wilson, Irma Bussey, Charles Kasal, Violet Sorensen, and Betty Flynn.
Survivors include his wife Sonja of Toledo; four children, Deb (Herbie) Wilson of Marshalltown, Lori Grommet of Marshalltown, Rick (Lisa Billington) Kasal of Grand Island, NE, and Nancy (Mark) Wolken of Marshalltown; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
