TAMA-Roger Lee Hanus, age 69, of Tama died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22 from 4 to 7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Roger was born on June 15, 1937 in rural Tama, the son of Emil and Mabel (Hagge) Hanus. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Roger was united in marriage to Evelyn Chaloupek on January 7, 1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He retired from Fisher Controls in 1995. Roger was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed traveling and farming. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tim Hanus, and a sister Shirley Blocker.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn; two daughters Laurie (Joe) McLevis of Rochester, Minnesota and Pamela Hanus of Tama; one son Todd (Angela) Hanus of Gilman; seven grandchildren Joe (Heather) Hanus, Andy Hanus, Alexis Hanus, Reed McLevis, Haley Hanus, Kallen Hanus, and Jordyn Hanus; three sisters Darlene Brandt of Tama, Ruth Plowman of Garwin, and Arlene (Keith) Alexander of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
