Roger Joesph Purk, 22, of Tama, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 due to injuries sustained in a work related accident. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Roger was born on June 5, 1993, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Joe Waldo and Rachel Rene (Van Dee) Purk.
He attended South Tama Schools.
Roger was a maintenance technician at Iowa Premium Beef and formerly a casings mechanic at JBS Swift and a diesel mechanic at Electro-Motive Diesel. He liked 4 wheeling, dirt bikes, attending the Pow wow and anything to do with the outdoors. Roger's greatest joy was spending time with his son.
Survivors include his fiancé, Virginia Joy of Tama; one son, Kaven Havik at home and expecting another son September 6th; his mother, Rachel Purk (Kyle Purk) of Tama; his father, Joe Purk (Kelly Waseskuk) of Tama; two sisters, RaeLeigh and Josie Purk of Tama; half sister, Kali Smith of Brooklyn; step siblings, Kaitlynn, Laezlow and Aiden Waseskuk all of Tama; maternal grandparents, Robin and Rick Riffle of Tama; two nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Donna Purk and maternal grandfather, Roger Van Dee; and one uncle, Max Purk.
