Obituary

TOLEDO- Roger Dean Shadden, age 62, of Toledo, died on January 11, 2007 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Ron Arends officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, January 15, 2007 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Roger was born on December 16, 1944, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Darl and Marie (Depew) Shadden.
He graduated from Toledo High School. Roger served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On October 12, 1968, he was united in marriage to Evelyn "Mike" Rund at the Tama Methodist Church.
He owned and operated Zeno's Restaurant in Toledo since 1977. Prior to that, he worked at Fishers in Marshalltown and also farmed for a period of time. His hobbies included fishing and restoring old tractors. Roger devoted a lot of time to his work.
Preceding him in death was his father, Darl Shadden.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn of Toledo; his mother, Marie Shadden of Springville; one son, Scott (Tammy) Shadden of Tama; one brother, LaVerne (Susan) Shadden of Springville; and several nieces and nephews.
