Ronald Clark Allen, 71, of Garwin, joined our heavenly Father on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown with his family by his side. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. The family requests casual attire for the service.
Ronald Clark Allen was born on September 14, 1943, in Lake City, Iowa, the son of Ronald V. and Virginia (Clark) Allen. The family resided in Lanesboro for a brief time and then they moved to Ralston, Iowa, where Ron attended school and was an active athlete playing football, basketball, track and baseball until his sophomore year. In his junior year, he attended Tama High School where he played football. Ron graduated in 1962 from Tama High School. Ron then joined the United States Air Force where he served his country from 1962-1966. He is a Vietnam War Veteran. Ron then met and married Linda Kacer on November 17, 1967. They have two daughters, Tammy Allen McAnulty and Becky Allen Apel. Ron was employed and retired from Swifts Inc. after thirty-two years. Ron was an active member of the UFCW, American Legion and the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Tama/Gilman Saddle Club and Central Iowa Coon Hunters Association. Ron was a hard working farmer where he raised several different breeds and types of animals and crops. He was very passionate about raising and training horses and attending horse shows, coon hunting, and hunting wild game with family and friends. Ron owned Circle A Acres Farm and Trophy business. He and Linda worked together on their farm and trophy business. Ron was also a certified coach and horse show judge. Ron was also passionate about football, from playing semi-pro to coaching at GMG Junior High, South Tama, Colo-NESCO and semi-pro football team in Cedar Falls. Ron could be seen teaching, giving advice, hope, inspiration and life lessons to almost any person. Ron was a avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan. Ron also enjoyed helping his friend, Dennis Beane on the farm. Ron also cherished attending his grandchildren's' activities and events.
Left to cherish Ron's memory are his wife of forty-seven years, Linda (Kacer) Allen of Garwin; his daughters, Tammy (Joel) McAnulty of Marshalltown and Becky (Matt) Apel of Dike; grandchildren, Douglas"DJ" Norem, Jordan McAnulty, Rachael McAnulty, Nicholas Apel and Lora Apel; two sisters, Rosemary (Ken) Beckman of Carroll and Colleen (Steve) Clay of Le Grand; one brother, James "Jim" (Pat) Allen of Toledo; one uncle, Richard "Dick" Allen of Spencer; several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by a child through miscarriage; two nephews, Christopher and Chad; his parents, Ronald V Allen and Virginia Clark Allen; his mother-in-law, Millie (Chizek) Kacer; his father-in-law, Fred Kacer; a close cousin, Steven Vincent; best friends, Charles Beane, Mike Shope and Terry Kearney as well as his beloved Arabian Stallion, Brubit.
A memorial fund has been established.
