Obituary

Ronald Raymond Weir, 88, of Tama, passed away at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. A private interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Ron was born on June 6, 1933, the son of Raymond and Emma Suchanek Weir in Tama. He graduated from Tama High School in 1955. Ron served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.

On May 25, 1957, he married Margaret Lorraine Robison at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. For over 37 years, Ron was a mail carrier in Tama. He was a model builder and was known for the miniature carnival on the west side of Tama. Ron was a longtime member of the Carnival Historical Society, Circus Model Builders International, and OABA (Outdoor Amusement Business Association).

He is survived by his son, Craig (Connie) Weir of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Christopher Weir of Grinnell and Chana Weir of Iowa Falls; and two great grandchildren, Adyson and C.J.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine on August 20, 2009; and brother Charles (Voda) Weir.
