Rosalin Julia "Rose" Fowler, 80, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 from 10 -11 AM prior to the service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Rosalin was born on October 27, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Frances (Vavra) Vander Heyden.
She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1953.
On February 26, 1972, she was united in marriage to William Fowler in Tama, Iowa. Rose had previously worked as a Switchboard Operator at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. She was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama, where she was active in United Methodist Woman. She was also a member of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association and a previous member of the Tama American Legion Auxiliary. She and her husband, Bill enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and visited every state except Alaska. Rose also enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her Irises. She also liked watching sporting events on television.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Ferriss of Toledo, and Evelyn Loman of Springfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William on January 5, 1989; and five brothers, Charles, Donald, Ralph, Robert and Elmer Vander Heyden.
A memorial fund has been established.
