Obituary

TAMA-Rosalind (Kapayou) Youngbear, age 68, of Tama, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Larry Lasley Sr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Tuesday evening, January 27, 2009 at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building.
Rosalind was born on September 15, 1940, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of George Edwin and Fannie (Benson) Kapayou Sr.
She married Rolland Youngbear in 1964 in Tama. They lived on the Meskwaki Settlement. She previously worked as a housekeeper at the Meskwaki Casino and Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents; parents; her husband, Rolland Youngbear; one son, Robert Youngbear; and two brothers, George Edwin Kapayou Jr. and Lawrence Benson.
Survivors include two daughters, Laureen Puentes of Montour and Jeanette Youngbear of San Antonio, TX; one son, James Dean Youngbear of Tama; her grandchildren, George, Luis and Rollanda Puentes, Edwin and Gloria Youngbear; Rodney Keraghan, and Derrick Kapayou all of Tama, and Lindsey Kapayou of Marshalltown; two sisters, Georgia Keraghan and Angelina Kapayou both of Tama; and nieces and nephews.
