Obituary

Rose Agnes Kvidera, 88, of Traer, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father David Kucera as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Traer. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 4-7 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church with a Rosary at 7 PM.

Rose was born on April 26, 1930, on a farm in Carroll Township in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Philip and Agnes (Hlas) Kucera.

She attended country school in Carroll Township, Toledo High School and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Omaha. She got her teaching certificate at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was a teacher at several country schools in Tama County and a teller at Farmers Savings Bank in Traer prior to her marriage. After marrying, she was a farmwife and homemaker.

On September 10, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ferdinand Kvidera at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in rural Clutier, Iowa. Rose was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer where she was Sacristan and did various other volunteer work at the church and nursing home. She was also a member of the KD Lodge, Foresters and Rosary Society. Rose enjoyed bird watching, her flower garden and baking. Her greatest joy was her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marcia (Joseph) Szuhay of Elyria, OH, Samuel (Julie) Kvidera of Dysart, Peter (Melanie Shakarian) Kvidera of Cleveland, OH, and Andrew Kvidera of Newton; eight grandchildren, Daniel and Lydia Szuhay, Joseph, Anna and Molly Kvidera, Rose, Aida and Eliza Kvidera; siblings, Vitus Kucera of Marshalltown, Sister Rose Mary Kucera of Iowa City, Joseph (Patricia Prijatel) Kucera of Des Moines, and Philip (Darla) Kucera of Des Moines; one brother-in-law, James D. Herink of The Colony, TX; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kucera of Traer.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ferd in 1994; one brother, Vaclav "Tony" Kucera; and one sister, Mary Ann Herink.
