Obituary

Rose Mary Wacha, 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher and Father David Kucera as concelebrants. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Rose was born on October 7, 1923, in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Dvorak) Zmolek.
On January 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edwin Wacha at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in rural Toledo. Together they farmed for fifty years east of Toledo on their Century Farm, until 1997 when they retired and moved to town. Rose was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama where she was involved in KD Lodge, and CCW. Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and quilting. She also liked baking and cake decorating.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Edwin in 2011; one brother, Stanley Zmolek; and one sister, Rita Green.
Survivors include five children, Duane (Carol) Wacha of Newton, Dennis (Jackie) Wacha of Montour, Diane (Marty) Kucera of Kansas City, MO., Donna (Craig) Fish of Toledo, and Dallas (Shelly) Wacha of Sugar Land, TX; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Mary) Zmolek of Perry; one sister, Dorothy Zmolek of Waterloo; and one brother-in-law, Dale Green of Cedar Rapids.
