Rose Strojek was born November 3, 1925 in Poland. After fleeing her war-torn home country at the age of 14, she eventually met Bill Waite while he was stationed at a hospital in Germany where Rose was working.
They were married May 17, 1946. Bill was discharged from the Army and had to leave Rose behind before sending her passage to the U.S.
Rose had to make her way to the European coast to catch a boat to New York then by train to Chicago where she was met by her husband and his parents. After a long automobile trip back to Tama county Rose settled in to her life as a wonderful homemaker. Their union was blessed with 7 children. Rose was quite humble of her accomplishments not the least of which was learning Polish, German and the English languages. She loved fishing, visiting the casino, playing cards and nurturing her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Dan (Mary Jane) Waite of State Center, Kenny Waite of Lakeland, FL, Larry Waite of Toledo, Patty (John) Baker of Marshalltown, Tom Waite of Colorado Springs, Steve (Donna) Waite of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Mary) Waite of Goodell, IA and Richard (Bonnie) Waite of Rosebud, AR; and her extended family in Poland.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill (Dec. 7th 2014), oldest child Stanley, one great grand-child, three brothers-in-law Edward Waite, Jerry Plotz and Dennis Rozenberg; four sisters-in-law, Veronica Waite, Ruth Waite, Carolyn Rozenberg and Donna Plotz.
