Rosemary Benda, 75, of Tama, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015, at Premier Estates of Toledo. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Rosemary was born on January 20, 1940 in Mankato, MN, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Harrison) Culshaw.
She graduated from South Tama High School in their first GED Class. Rosemary worked at the Meskwaki Casino until she had to retire in 1996 due to her health. She formerly owned a bar "Rosie's Tap" in Garwin. Rosemary liked Bingo and was an avid Yahtzee player. She loved to read books and she loved all kinds of music and playing the piano. Rosemary never met a stranger. Her greatest joy in life was her family.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Cheryl) Brown of Garwin, Terry Brown of Marshalltown, Julie (David) Taylor of Garwin, Joelyne (Don) Stackhouse of Green Mountain and Rebecca (Jeff) Stephenson of Chelsea; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Austin of Onalaska, TX and Diane Wiles of Oshkosh, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her grandmother, Mae Harrison, who raised her; her twin brother, Richard at birth; two brothers, Tom and Jim Culshaw; and one sister, Carol Duhacek.
A memorial fund has been established.
