Rosemary was born on November 21, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Paul J. and Mary Ann N. (Upah) Husak. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Toledo on the Duponda blacktop. There she enjoyed riding horses, playing board games and cards with her siblings, and having friends over.
She graduated from South Tama High School in 1974 and proceeded to attend Iowa State University for a short time. She soon moved to Arlington, Texas where she worked for Kindred Hospital in Forth Worth. While there, she completed her degree at the University of Texas in Arlington. In talking to a former co-worker, Rosemary "put herself out there", playing on local volleyball and softball teams. She was a big fan of the Rangers, Cowboys, Bruce Springsteen music, pets, and digging in her garden.
On March 5, 1988, she was united in marriage to Lyndall E. Rigsby at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. The couple resided in Texas until his death on May 18, 2001. She returned to Iowa in 2004 to live on the family farm and watch her nieces and nephews grow up. She was employed at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
